๐ Lesson: Type Capital T (Uppercase T)
To type a capital T, hold the right Shift key with your right pinky and tap T with your left index finger. These 4 exercises build the Shift habit โ from single capitals to whole capitalised words โ while a live keyboard shows the exact fingers to use.
How to Type a Capital T (Uppercase T) Correctly
A capital T is the uppercase version of the letter t. On the top row, T belongs to your left index finger. To make it uppercase, hold the right Shift key with your right pinky โ always the Shift on the opposite hand โ press T, then release both. Using the opposite hand keeps both hands moving smoothly and is the standard touch-typing technique.
Capital T starts sentences and names such as Thunder, Tiger and Temple, so it is worth practising until the Shift motion feels automatic. This lesson uses four short drills: single capitals, capital-plus-lowercase pairs, capitalised words and a short run of mixed words, so you practise both pressing Shift and letting go of it again.
Prefer Shift over Caps Lock for a single capital: Caps Lock is for typing whole words in UPPERCASE, and forgetting to turn it off is a common beginner slip. If you have not learned the lowercase key yet, start with the lowercase letter T.
Hold the right Shift key with your right pinky, press T with your left index finger, then release both keys. Do not use Caps Lock for a single capital letter.
Your left index finger presses T, while the right pinky holds the right Shift key. Using the opposite hand for Shift keeps typing fast and balanced.
Shift makes only the next letter uppercase and is the right choice for a single capital T. Caps Lock keeps every letter uppercase until you press it again, so it suits whole words in capitals.
