How to Type the Double Quotation Mark (") Correctly

The double quotation mark — also called double quote, quotation marks, speech marks, inverted commas — lives on the home row of a standard US keyboard. Hold the left Shift key with your left pinky, tap ' with your right pinky, then release both. It shares the apostrophe key. Hold the left Shift, then tap with your right pinky.
