🔢 Lesson: Type the Number 1
1 is typed with your left pinky finger. From the home row, reach upward to the number 1 key and return your finger to A. These 4 exercises build accurate number-row muscle memory.
How to Type the Number 1 Correctly
The number 1 is typed with your left pinky finger. Keep your left hand positioned on the home row and move only your pinky upward to reach the 1 key.
This lesson uses four short drills — a single tap, a double tap, a triple tap, and a building rhythm from one to five numbers — to help your pinky learn the correct distance and movement without looking down at the keyboard.
Your left pinky. Reach upward from the A key to press 1, then return your finger to the home row.
The 1 key is on the top number row, directly above the A and Q area of a standard QWERTY keyboard.
