🔢 Lesson: Type Numbers 1 and 2
1 is typed with your left pinky finger, while 2 is typed with your left ring finger. These 4 exercises combine both number-row keys to build accurate typing muscle memory.
How to Type Numbers 1 and 2 Correctly
The number 1 is typed with your left pinky, while 2 is typed with your left ring finger. Keep your left hand positioned on the home row and reach upward only with the finger needed for each number.
This lesson uses four progressive drills — mixed single numbers, double-number combinations, three-number patterns, and longer combinations — to help you switch accurately between 1 and 2 without looking down at the keyboard.
Your left pinky types 1, and your left ring finger types 2. After each keystroke, return your fingers toward the home row.
Keep your left hand relaxed on the home row. Reach upward for each number and focus on accuracy before trying to increase your speed.
