Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Welcome to Rocket Typing. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
🔒 Short version: We do not sell your data. We do not collect your IP address. Registration is 100% optional.
📋 What We Collect
- LocalStorage (browser): Your preferred test mode (Time/Words/Quotes), difficulty, custom duration, Musk Score, and Elon Score session data — stored only on your device until you log in.
- Coding Practice (browser only): Your saved code, solved-problem status, streaks, and per-language stats in Coding Practice are stored locally in your browser only. This data is not sent to or stored on our servers.
- Anonymous analytics: Page views and usage patterns via Google Analytics (no personal identifiers).
- Advertising cookies: Google AdSense uses cookies to show relevant ads.
- Leaderboard registration (optional): If you choose to register, we collect your display name, email address (for login only), and country (displayed publicly as a flag on the leaderboard). You can use the full typing test without ever registering.
- Leaderboard scores: When you submit a score to the Time or Words leaderboard, your WPM, accuracy, score, username, country, and test mode are stored in our database.
- Elon Score (logged-in users): Your Elon Score (a composite skill score calculated per 60-minute session), username, and country are stored in our database to power the global Elon leaderboard. This sync only occurs when you are logged in.
- Musk Score (logged-in users): Your cumulative typing time (Musk Score) is synced to the cloud when you log in, so your progress is preserved across devices.
- Sunday Championship scores: If you compete, your WPM, accuracy, score, username, and country are stored in our database to determine the weekly winner.
🔧 Third-Party Services
- Google Analytics — anonymous traffic analysis. Google Privacy Policy →
- Google AdSense — non-intrusive advertising. Opt out →
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and database for leaderboards, Elon Score, Musk Score sync, and championship scores. Data is stored in Firestore collections:
typing_test_scores (Time mode), typing_word_scores (Words mode), elon_scores (Elon leaderboard), and user_scores (per-user Musk & Elon sync). All Firestore writes require you to be logged in and only write to your own document.
🗂️ Your Data Rights
We do not collect your IP address or any sensitive personal information beyond what is described above.
If you registered for the leaderboard, your display name and country are shown publicly. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing [email protected].
We do not sell any data to third parties — ever.
🍪 Cookies
We use cookies through Google Analytics (traffic analysis) and Google AdSense (advertising). You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences or opt out via Google Ads Settings.
