The timer starts with your first keystroke. Press Space after each word.
About the Canada typing test
From Banff and Niagara to Ottawa and the Yukon, with Confederation, the Mounties and the fur trade along the way. Add maple syrup, hockey and poutine, and you have a very Canadian way to measure your typing speed.
Words in this test come from Canada: places such as Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal; history including Confederation, Champlain and Cartier; and everyday things like maple, syrup and poutine. They are mixed with common English words, so every round is different. When time is up, enter your name and your certificate is issued with the Canada flag, your net WPM, accuracy and proficiency level.

How your score is calculated
Every result follows the standard typing-test formulas, and the same numbers are printed on your certificate.
| Gross WPM | (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes |
| Net WPM | Gross WPM − (incorrect words ÷ minutes) |
| Accuracy | (keystrokes − incorrect keystrokes) ÷ keystrokes |
A character is any letter, number, punctuation mark or space you type; five characters count as one standard word. A word is incorrect if it does not match the passage exactly, including capital letters and punctuation. A mistake you correct with Backspace still counts against accuracy. Pasting is disabled, and the timer starts at your first keystroke and ends at exactly the test duration.
