About the United States typing test
Practise with words from Yellowstone to Manhattan, from the Declaration of Independence to the Apollo missions, plus Thanksgiving, baseball and barbecue. A fun way to check your WPM for school, work or your resume.
Words in this test come from United States: places such as Yellowstone, Manhattan and Hollywood; history including Independence, Constitution and Declaration; and everyday things like baseball, football and basketball. They are mixed with common English words, so every round is different. When time is up, enter your name and your certificate is issued with the United States flag, your net WPM, accuracy and proficiency level.

How your score is calculated
Every result follows the standard typing-test formulas, and the same numbers are printed on your certificate.
| Gross WPM | (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes |
| Net WPM | Gross WPM − (incorrect words ÷ minutes) |
| Accuracy | (keystrokes − incorrect keystrokes) ÷ keystrokes |
A character is any letter, number, punctuation mark or space you type; five characters count as one standard word. A word is incorrect if it does not match the passage exactly, including capital letters and punctuation. A mistake you correct with Backspace still counts against accuracy. Pasting is disabled, and the timer starts at your first keystroke and ends at exactly the test duration.
