About the United Kingdom typing test
Words from London and Edinburgh to Cardiff and Belfast, from Magna Carta and the Tudors to afternoon tea, cricket and the pub. Test your WPM with a taste of British places, history and culture.
Words in this test come from United Kingdom: places such as London, Edinburgh and Cardiff; history including Magna, Carta and Normans; and everyday things like tea, scones and crumpets. They are mixed with common English words, so every round is different. When time is up, enter your name and your certificate is issued with the United Kingdom flag, your net WPM, accuracy and proficiency level.

How your score is calculated
Every result follows the standard typing-test formulas, and the same numbers are printed on your certificate.
| Gross WPM | (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes |
| Net WPM | Gross WPM − (incorrect words ÷ minutes) |
| Accuracy | (keystrokes − incorrect keystrokes) ÷ keystrokes |
A character is any letter, number, punctuation mark or space you type; five characters count as one standard word. A word is incorrect if it does not match the passage exactly, including capital letters and punctuation. A mistake you correct with Backspace still counts against accuracy. Pasting is disabled, and the timer starts at your first keystroke and ends at exactly the test duration.
